Weekly Status Update #4
Week of February 27
Team Members: Sonia Mody, Talia Smith, Andres Antonio, Evan Zlotnick
Successes:
-
Received survey responses (~30)
-
We are still receiving responses from sending out the survey in the Facebook group and directly to friends and family
-
We also made QR codes (with a link to the survey) to hand out to the people we interview along with other employees in the store
-
-
Started interviewing participants in retail spaces (~5)
-
We went to Target and Total Wine and More and talked to a range of employees from team lead to cashier to HR coordinator
-
-
Gained a lot of insight into potential users
-
By talking to people in person, we saw their enthusiasm for the topic of gamification and asked more open-ended questions that gave us more information
-
Failures:
-
Delayed the process of creating user personas another week
-
Needed to revise survey questions/answers after we had initially published it
-
This included adding response choices and demographic/contextual questions, as well as rewording various questions
-
Difficulties:
-
Getting people to agree to be interviewed
-
Obtaining consent to record interviews
-
-
Clarifying some metrics for our survey questions
-
We had to think of ways to measure happiness and motivation in ways that were relevant and substantive to our research
-
Goals for Next Week:
-
Update the survey and interview questions
-
As we do our final rounds of research we want to make sure we get the most valuable and specific information possible
-
-
Finish our interviews
-
Over the weekend we will go in person to do more interviews (~5 more)
-
We plan to go into retail spaces in Davis
-
-
Analyze our research and draw conclusions
-
We hope to come up with needs, confusions, and likes, that we see from the user end
-
We also will summarize what gamification aspects that are currently implemented by other applications work well
-
-
Make user personas and journey maps
-
This will be done both independently and as a group
